STS-98 Payload "Destiny" Lab

Space Shuttle Atlantis was launched on Feb 7, 2001 carrying the "Destiny" Laboratory module to the ISS as Assembly Mission 5A. The "Destiny" Laboratory is the centerpiece or scientific research aboard the ISS. It will also serve as the command and control center for the entire complex. Atlantis docked to the ISS via Unity's PMA-3 port which was delivered by mission STS-92. The photos shown below demonstrate how the "Destiny" laboratory was delivered after a series of orchestrated steps.

From left to right at the bottom of this page: Docking through PMA-3. Notice the relocation of PMA-2 which was moved from the front port of Unity to the berthing port of Z1 truss. Later, Destiny was connected to Unity and finally the relocation of PMA-2 to the front port of Destiny. A separate EVA took place to put a second SASA antenna as a spare part in the Z1 truss but this time facing up to give space for the future "Quest" airlock module.

This module is available via Paypal in both scales. Enjoy!!
