STS-122 Payload "Columbus"

Space Shuttle Atlantis was launched to the ISS on Feb 7, 2008 carrying the long awaited "Columbus" European Research Module on mission 1E in the assembly sequence. Two European astronauts were onboard, Leopold Eyharts from France and Hans Schlegel from Germany. Eyharts was the new ISS-16 crewmember replacing Dan Tani. Atlantis docked for the first time to the new installed Node 2 module which was delivered via STS-120 mission. This mission brought a new Space Station configuration with the addition of Columbus to the starboard port of Node 2.
