STS-118 Payload / 13A-1 / S5 Truss

Space Shuttle Endeavour STS-118 was launched on August 8, 2007 to the International Space Station carrying the starboard side truss (S5) on an assembly mission. Among Endeavour's crew was Barbara Morgan, the Space Educator who was the backup to Christa McAuliffe.

The S5 truss is a mirrow image of its counterpart P5, and will connect the S4 segment with the S6 truss on the starboard side of the ISS. Other payload bay elements included the Spacehab single module with its long tunnel and the External Stowage Platform-3 (ESP-3). The ESP-3 will be attached to a mating interface on the zenith section of the P3 truss. On this mission, the original configuration of ESP-3 consisted of a Nitrogen Tank Assembly (NTA), a SSRMS Pitch/Roll Joint, a Control Moment Gyro (CMG) and a Battery Charge/Discharge Unit (BCDU). During an EVA, the CMG was moved to the ESP-2.

Information from different sources were available to make this model as accurate as possible considering the scale. Robotics and EVA information from NASA website was obtained. This module is available via Paypal in both 1:144 and 1:100 versions.

Enjoy!
